Updating Your Summer Hairstyle

For summer I like to have my hair up in some way but it’s also the scariest for me as I always wear my hair down and framing my face. It’s become almost like a security blanket for me and I only wear it up if I’m having an exceptionally great make-up/skin day which is rare! So here I’ve rounded up two of my current favorite summer hairstyles¬†for you to try.¬†

The Braided Up-Do

Basically an up do with some braids inter weaved to add a youthful touch. Thin and sparse or thick and prominent, braids add a touch of feminine fun to any up-do. For me, the messier the better as I like it to look less contrived for a more messy-sexy look. I chose this for my wedding hairstyle (8 years ago!) and don’t regret it one bit as it still looks fresh and feminine but messy enough to look relaxed and fun st the same time.

The Full Ponytail

Another great way to update your hair and also perfect for unpredictable summer weather. This is a fail safe for when you have that second day unwashed hair and need to add a little volume but still look polished. I particularly like it because my hair can tend to be quite flat so my ponytails tend to look a little thin and lackluster. I tried this double ponytail look and I instantly had a very full and long ponytail. See the mini tutorial below for instructions and do try this at home! If you don’t like to have all your hair tied up, save a few strands in the front to frame your fave and don’t forget to tease the crown a little for extra volume on top.
