Finally sorting through thousands (literally thousands) of photo’s from this amazing wedding we went to in Thailand… so without further adieu, here’s a little photo diary of the events! You already saw the beautiful pink sari (here)I wore on the day of the religious ceremony at the temple but so much more happened that I haven’t shared yet…There were in total 4 official events including 4-5 unofficial ones in between and a huge beach wedding celebration as a finale, complete with drones flying over head, fireworks, a giant disco light dance floor on the beach and lots of and lots of dancing! I have a lot of indian friends in Bangkok so a lot of this wasn’t new to me but it’s the first time I’ve taken part in such an event. My favorite was the Sikh temple and seeing the couple (dressed in white) walk around the fire while all of us and the families were seated all around them, shoe’s off, on the floor and throwing flower petals as they walked past. I also really loved the Mehndi celebration prior to the temple ceremony where all the women on the bride’s side get henna on their hands while the women dance sing and eat. And how could I forget the dance numbers! So many performances by beautiful sari clad women which take months to rehearse! And the Sari’s … ohhh the sari’s! The groom’s family kindly gave me two of my sari’s and I borrowed two from a dear friend of mine. I fell absolutely in love with them and the whole tradition of wrapping yourself into the heavy fabrics. The weight of them actually change your posture and the way you carry yourself, makes you feel like a true princess! The beading on the was just so incredible, it felt like haute couture.
We were so tired by the end of this but the bride and groom where super gracious and sent us a basket of goodies to our room in Bangkok and Hua Hin (the beach wedding) complete with hangover cures, vitamins and snacks. We loved this unique experience and spending time with old friends from high school, Ihope you can get a little feel for it below!
